Adele, a 22-year-old with a history of bad luck and abusive relationships with men, is contemplating suicide on the edge of a bridge when she encounters Gabor, a professional knife thrower who just happens to be "hiring." He senses that she would make a wonderful new target and offers her the job. She rejects the offer and jumps.
